Spencer Fane attorney Keith Call presented at the annual Utah State Court District Judges Conference on April 10 in Park City, Utah.
Over 100 Utah District Court Judges attended this educational gathering featuring timely presentations, such as Keith’s Perils and Practical Uses of AI for Judges. Keith examined six hazards of artificial intelligence: inaccuracies or “hallucinations”; bias; deception, fraud, and misinformation; copyright infringement; disclosure and loss of control of confidential information; and due process. He also outlined practical uses of AI technology, including drafting, editing, summarizing, issue selection and brainstorming, and legal research. Keith also discussed policy implications of AI in the courtroom, and concluded his session with an AI-generated cowboy poem, “The Honorable Herd.”
