Spencer Fane attorney Keith Call summarized his role on the Utah State Bar Ethics Advisory Opinion Committee (EAOC) and the overall goals of the committee in an article published in Utah Bar Journal’s March/April issue. Coauthored with fellow Utah State Bar Ethics Advisory Opinion Committee (EAOC) member Sara Bouley, the article is part of his regular Focus on Ethics & Civility series.
In the article, The Ethics Advisory Opinion Committee: Responding to Your Ethical Dilemma, Keith outlines how the EAOC helps attorneys navigate the complexities of the Rules of Professional Conduct. He and Sara shared governing rules and responsibility of the EAOC, its procedures, general guidelines for questions or requests for information, and the effect of EAOC opinions.
The coauthors concluded, “The EAOC plays a vital role in shaping the ethical landscape of the legal profession in Utah. By providing thoughtful, well-researched opinions, the EAOC helps lawyers navigate complex ethical issues with confidence. … Whether you’re seeking clarity on a specific issue or simply looking to stay informed about evolving ethical standards, the EAOC stands as a valuable, vital resource, fostering trust and professionalism within the legal community.”
The publication also features the latest in the Appellate Highlights series authored by Rodney Parker, Dani Cepernich, Robert Cummings, and Andrew Roth.
