Jose Castro Discusses Civic Responsibility of Lawyers for ABA Webinar

July 31, 2024

Spencer Fane attorney Jose Castro moderated the panel for the July 25 American Bar Association (ABA) webinar, American Democracy and the Rule of Law.

This CLE was part of a three-part series that explores lawyers’ unique role in supporting essential elements of American democracy, such as the rule of law, civil discourse, and election integrity. This kickoff session discussed how the rule of law is foundational to U.S. democracy and explained lawyers’ unique opportunity and obligation to support and defend it.

As the Civic Engagement Director for the ABA Young Lawyers Division, Jose is a passionate advocate for attorneys fulfilling their civic responsibility. In addition to this webinar, he recently participated in presentations for the ABA Midyear Meeting and Lawline centered on defending democracy and engaging in elections. He also organized a fundraiser for the statewide legal aid program Colorado Legal Services to increase his community’s accessibility to crucial legal resources.

At Spencer Fane, Jose serves as a full-service litigator representing public, private, and corporate clients in all their litigation and land use permitting needs. He specializes in various forms of litigation related to real estate, focusing on land use actions, condemnation issues, and easement disputes. Jose also assists clients in navigating through land use and zoning permitting procedures established by different municipalities and agencies.
