Spencer Fane attorney Jim Lodoen served as a panelist for the 2023 Bankruptcy Institute, an in-person event presented by Minnesota CLE and the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) Bankruptcy Section, on October 3 in Minneapolis.
During the breakout session – Agricultural Insolvency: Ag Lien, Perfection, and Priority Issues – Jim joined fellow industry thought leaders Brent King and Jeff Peterson to explain how to handle liens amid the production agriculture and agricultural lending landscape. This subject was one of several covered during the event’s 18 presentations featuring the latest business, consumer, and Chapter Sub-V topics in bankruptcy law.
At Spencer Fane, Jim represents lenders, debtors, committees, trustees, receivers, and buyers of assets in bankruptcy cases, receiverships, and workouts. He has advised clients in real estate, manufacturing, health care, biotechnology, life sciences, retail, agribusiness and farm, ranch, and related agriculture industries. His farm and ranch background, including an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics and Animal Science, provides a practical understanding of issues pertinent to the challenges facing the agriculture sector. A Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, Jim is also a frequent lecturer and author on various bankruptcy, debtor-creditor, and agriculture issues.
