James Crumlin Joins Possip Panel to Share Ideas for Improving School Attendance

February 13, 2023

Spencer Fane attorney James Crumlin joined a virtual panel of education, communication, and community thought leaders to address chronic school absence on January 24.

The conversation – Ideas for Improving Attendance and Increasing Enrollment – was hosted by Possip, a survey organization focused on primary and secondary education. James participated alongside Possip CEO Shani Dowell, Napier Elementary administrators Dr. Kavon Seay and Marc Anthony Peek, and Rhodes Branding CEO Austin Rhodes. The panel discussed barriers to school attendance, and James particularly championed the importance of support networks.

“Having a good support system and a good network … is critical,” James said. “If you’re able to create a culture [of encouragement], then those barriers become stepping stones on the way to [student] success.”

At Spencer Fane, James concentrates his practice in the areas of labor and employment law, business and corporate law, litigation and dispute resolution, and entertainment and media law. As an industry thought leader, he is routinely featured in various print and media outlets and is frequently called on for speaking engagements and in-house training sessions for clients regarding compliance with the numerous federal and state laws affecting employers.

James is also an active member of the Nashville community who fervently supports several organizations such as the Leadership Nashville Foundation, American Baptist College, YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, the Kelly Miller Smith Center Against Abusive Behavior, and many more.
