Helen Holden Provides Timely Guidance on Paid Leave Policies

April 28, 2022

Spencer Fane attorney Helen Holden recently co-authored an article with David M. Kight, Associate General Counsel of Garmin International for DRI’s In-House Defense Quarterly magazine.

Titled “Paid Leave Policies: Drafting Considerations,” Helen and David discuss paid leave policies and practical considerations for employers when updating current policies, including compliance with employment laws and working to accommodate employees’ expectations about paid time off.

“These laws make it clear that the trend towards an increasingly complex array of leave laws is continuing rather than abating,” Helen and David explain in the article. “When drafting policies about using time away from work, whether paid or unpaid time off, it is critical to understand that time off policies have implications for not only the employer’s compliance with applicable employment laws, but also the need and desire to continue to attract and retain high-quality workforce during a low unemployment period.”
