Eric Van Horn Examines Silicon Valley Bank’s ‘$2 Billion Issue’ for The Show-Me Banker

June 23, 2023

Spencer Fane attorney Eric Van Horn authored an article published in a recent issue of The Show-Me Banker, a bimonthly magazine from the Missouri Independent Bankers Association.

In his article, The $2 Billion Issue in SVB Financial Group’s Bankruptcy, Eric discusses the bankruptcy case SVBFG filed shortly after the widely publicized fall of its primary subsidiary, Silicon Valley Bank. As the FDIC and SVBFG lock horns over the $2 billion the bank had on deposit, Eric notes that “the resolution of this issue potentially impacts whether SVBFG must obtain a bankruptcy loan to operate in Chapter 11.”

Eric also predicted other disputes that may arise from this case and declared it one “worth banks and their management to be aware of.”

At Spencer Fane, Eric assists clients nationwide with all aspects of bankruptcy, reorganizations, negotiations, collection actions, multijurisdictional insolvencies, and corporate liquidations. His work in complex Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases has involved representing committees of unsecured creditors and investors, debtors, trustees, secured lenders, landlords, and general unsecured creditors (including critical vendors and suppliers).
