Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to welcome Michael Kuzma to the firm’s Omaha office as a partner in the Corporate and Business Transactions Practice Group.
Michael advises companies on a diverse assortment of corporate transactions, developing agile solutions to assist in a broad range of critical business elements – from entity setup and governance issues to asset and equity transactions across several industries, including Nebraska’s domestic insurance industry. He also maintains a robust real estate practice in which he counsels owners, developers, landlords, and tenants on all aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions, including the leasing, purchase, and sale of real property.
With extensive experience in Japanese language eDiscovery forged early in his career, Michael works with a diverse client base across the U.S. and Japan. He is a valuable asset when conducting due diligence on transactions and investigations involving Japanese language data and documents, having earned an Advanced Japanese Linguistics Certificate from the Japanese Ministry of Education’s Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program prior to starting his legal career.
“Mike joins us with a multidisciplinary legal background in which he has developed and honed many niche, highly sought-after skills,” said Joshua C. Dickinson, office managing partner for Spencer Fane in Omaha. “He will be a strong addition to our national corporate transactions and real estate practices, and our team looks forward to collaborating with him across several focus areas.”
Michael obtained his bachelor’s degrees summa cum laude from Nebraska Wesleyan University, also working on his Japanese degree at Kwansei Gakuin University in Nishinomiya, Japan, as a David L. Boren National Security Education Program Scholar during that time. He attended Temple University’s Beasley School of Law as a David L. Boren National Security Education Program Fellow before earning his Juris Doctor with distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
Before entering private practice, Michael notably managed the State of Nebraska Department of Economic Development’s trade office in Tokyo, Japan, and helped establish another trade office in Shanghai, China.
