Bernadette Lawson Educates on Diversity and Volunteering at ACLEA Annual Meeting

Spencer Fane client development manager Bernadette Lawson was a featured speaker at the Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA) 59th Annual Meeting on July 24 in Minneapolis.

Bernadette co-led the workshop Building a Diverse Volunteer Base alongside the State Bar of Texas’ Eko Owen and Lawline’s Angelica Cesario. The session advised attendees on creating a strategic plan for diversifying an organization’s volunteer base. Topics included identifying goals, recruitment and retention tactics, navigating common challenges in the CLE space, and how to effectively measure success.

ACLEA is an international organization devoted to improving the performance of CLE professionals through leadership, community, education, and development. Its members comprise administrators, trainers, managers, educators, publishers, programmers, and meeting professionals.

At Spencer Fane, Bernadette advances client development for eight of the firm’s offices and the employee benefits; government relations; labor and employment; and tax, trusts, and estates practice groups. She is also part of the leadership committee for the firm’s BOND (Black Opportunities to Network and Discover) connect group and serves as a liaison for the DEI Committee.
