Spencer Fane attorney Andrew Brought was recently featured in a Business Insurance article about the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s COVID-19 workplace safety efforts.
Titled “OSHA sharpens focus of COVID-19 safety efforts,” the article outlines OSHA’s ongoing process of releasing emergency COVID-19 safety standards. Andrew highlights that in the meantime, companies should seek guidance from the National Emphasis Program, the COVID-19 guidelines published in January, and the General Duty Clause in order to provide a safe working environment.
Andrew noted in the article that even without an emergency temporary standard, “the agency has more than enough regulatory authority to cite a large number of employers for not following rules and regulations that are in the books.”
