Andrew Brought Provides Insight on Mitigating Risk Amid Mask and N95 Shortages

September 2, 2020

Spencer Fane attorney Andrew Brought was recently featured in an article for Business Insurance on the impact of mask and N95 shortages on employers.

Titled “Employers, regulators look for workarounds amid mask shortage,” the article outlines the challenges some employers are facing as they work to comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically detailing a temporary change in regulations as the mask and N95 shortages continue, Andrew urges employers to find alternative ways to eliminate risk. “Health care employers need to do the best they can to source N95 respirators, and in situations where that is not possible find alternative respirators that are authorized or evaluate other engineering or administrative controls that protect patients and employees,” Andrew explains in the article. “As we are now getting on the second wave, it wouldn’t surprise me to see more respirator shortages.”
