Spencer Fane attorney Andrew Brought spoke with American City Business Journals on the CDC’s new guidance, which includes the relaxing of quarantine, testing, and social-distancing measures, among other changes, and how the CDC guidance may impact employers’ workplace safety and OSHA compliance obligations.
In the article, CDC Relaxes its Covid-19 Guidance. Here’s What it Means for Employers, Drew discussed with reporter Ty West how the CDC’s recent change reflects the reality that Covid-19 is here to stay and that the public needs to be able to sensibly manage the risks and exposures.
Drew shared, “With the significant risks initially caused by the pandemic now waning, both employers and employees appear to be evaluating the risks more akin to the common cold or seasonal influenza, although OSHA has not yet made that leap and still is treating Covid-19 exposure differently. Employers must continue to evaluate Covid-19 differently until OSHA updates its guidance.”
At Spencer Fane, Andrew counsels manufacturers, industrial clients, and businesses with complex environmental and workplace safety/OSHA matters. He currently serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and has held other leadership positions at the firm including co-chair of the Environment and Energy practice group.
