Spencer Fane attorney Allison Garrett presented a keynote at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) commencement ceremonies on Friday morning, May 8 in Baxter Arena.
As former chancellor of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education, Allison spoke to a crowd of over 2,000 students and the friends and family attending to celebrate with them. She offered UNO’s Class of 2026 the following advice: “Strong emotional intelligence, good writing and other communication skills, and a focus on kindness and compassion will never go out of style,” Allison shared.
At Spencer Fane, Allison plays a critical role in the firm’s higher education practice, resolving complex regulatory, administrative, operational, and transactional issues specific to public and private universities. Supported by a decadeslong track record of success in legal, educational, and leadership roles, she has held prominent positions in government, at a multinational retail corporation, and at the highest levels of several higher education institutions.
