Adam Holmes Talks Opportunity Zones in Springfield Business Journal

July 26, 2022

Spencer Fane attorney Adam Holmes recently authored an article, which was published by the Springfield Business Journal, on the recently introduced Opportunity Zones Transparency, Extension and Improvement Act, which would introduce a number of reforms to the “opportunity zone” tax incentive, which was first created by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

In his article, Opportunity Zone Legislation May Spur Development, Adam outlined the bill’s latest movements since its introduction in Congress, the impact of the fall midterm elections, and the immediate impact if the Act is passed.

In the article, Adam states, “If passed into law, the new legislation could spur economic development by making new and existing opportunity zone investments more attractive and by addressing concerns that the program has sometimes failed to direct investments to the communities most in need.”

At Spencer Fane, Adam focuses his practice on a variety of transactional matters, including commercial real estate transactions, real estate and tax credit financing, construction and commercial development, real estate incentives and tax credit programs and renewable energy projects.
