Jessica Nelson and Randi Winter to Discuss Recent Labor Law Developments at Upcoming MRA Conference

March 9, 2023

Spencer Fane attorneys Jessica Nelson and Randi Winter will present at MRA’s 2023 Employment Law Update – Minnesota and Federal on March 9. This dual in-person and virtual conference will comprise five sessions centered on timely employment law topics.

For their fast-paced session – Labor Practices for All Employers. What’s Fair and Unfair? – Jessica and Randi will cover the labor law developments that all employers should pay attention to in 2023, even those organizations that do not have unionized workforces. The team will break down the current priorities of the National Labor Relations Board and provide practical guidance for ensuring that managers do not unknowingly engage in unfair labor practices. The presentation will also offer suggestions for responding to potential union organizing activity among employees, as well as tips for updating employee handbooks and policies that might conflict with recent changes to legal opinions from the National Labor Relations Board.

At Spencer Fane, Jessica represents clients in high-stakes business and employment litigation. She has extensive experience in complex multiparty cases and class actions in the areas of mortgage-backed securities, ERISA, antitrust, breach of contract, indemnification, fraud, and commercial disputes. Jessica also defends clients in a wide range of employment and employee benefits matters, including discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and ERISA breach of fiduciary duty claims.

Randi helps her clients achieve favorable litigation outcomes with respect to business, employment, and licensing disputes. She also represents clients in matters involving health law, labor law, and utility law. She is experienced in all facets of litigation and arbitration, but has particularly enjoyed helping clients, both large and small, obtain trial victories before judges and juries in federal and state court.
