Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to welcome Shirley J. Foster to the firm’s Las Vegas office as an of counsel attorney in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group.
Shirley represents insurance carriers and businesses in complex coverage disputes and high-stakes litigation, regularly defending against allegations of bad faith and extra-contractual damages claims. She also handles declaratory judgment actions and advises on contribution, rescission, and coverage disputes.
Drawing on her diverse private practice and public sector insurance industry experience – including her position as litigation counsel for one of the nation’s largest auto insurance companies and her former role as insurance counsel within the Nevada Division of Insurance – Shirley provides strategic, forward-thinking guidance on regulatory alignment. She strives to analyze potential risk exposure and communicate pragmatic solutions before a presented dispute can escalate.
Shirley has successfully defended clients in a wide range of general liability matters, including premises liability, transportation and logistics, and significant property and casualty injury and damages claims.

Shirley obtained her bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and her Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law. She then earned her Master of Laws in insurance law from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
