Plano Attorney Joins Spencer Fane Bankruptcy Practice

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to welcome Katelyn J. Heley to the firm’s Plano, Texas, office as an associate in the Bankruptcy, Restructuring, and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group.

Katelyn helps advise businesses and other stakeholders in complex insolvency and restructuring matters. She focuses on issues arising under the Bankruptcy Code, including bankruptcy litigation, creditor remedies, distressed asset recovery, workouts, and reorganization proceedings.

With a strong foundation in bankruptcy law and judicial decision-making, Katelyn diligently ensures clients’ compliance with applicable laws at all turns. Her specific experience as a law clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Dakota includes assisting the judge at both the bankruptcy district and appellate levels, conducting in-depth legal research, drafting memoranda and other legal documents related to complex financial and insolvency matters, and helping manage the entire docket for the state of South Dakota.

Katelyn earned two bachelor’s degrees cum laude and her Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota. During her final year of law school, the American College of Bankruptcy named her the Eighth Circuit Distinguished Bankruptcy Student, a prestigious honor that identifies future leaders in the insolvency and bankruptcy profession.
