Robert H. Scott
Overview
Rob Scott is a commercial and consumer litigator with in-depth experience spanning a broad variety of industries, issues, and jurisdictions. He has effectively and strategically litigated intellectual property cases, product liability cases, natural resources disputes, contract claims, employment litigation, and real estate disputes.
Over the past fifteen years, Rob has devoted a significant portion of his practice to individual and class cases under federal and state consumer protection laws, with a focus on the financial services industry. These cases have involved federal and state laws pertaining to mortgages and foreclosure; student loans, credit cards, and auto loans; and related origination, servicing, and marketing issues. He has notably represented mortgage servicers in hundreds of cases in the Mountain West and nationally, including class actions, federal and state statutory claims, common law real estate issues, and fraud cases.
As a result of his years of experience representing these clients in court, Rob has developed a deep knowledge of the consumer financial services industry. He uses this fine-tuned proficiency to advise clients in the financial services industry on broader issues pertaining to risk management, compliance, and operational legal issues. As evidenced by his track record of success, he enjoys the challenge of navigating his clients’ most complex problems, whether they involve a deeper dive into the issues he knows by heart or require him to find a solution to a novel problem.
