David Koob and Randi Winter Earn Spots on Minnesota Lawyer POWER List

December 15, 2025

Spencer Fane attorneys David Koob and Randi Winter have been named to the 2025 Minnesota Lawyer POWER List: Business Litigation.

An ongoing feature with the publication, the POWER List highlights attorneys across the state “whose mere presence on a case signifies the stakes, who have influenced the direction of the law, whose leadership in the community is pervasive, and whose respect within the bar is undeniable.” David and Randi are among 32 attorneys chosen in the Business Litigation category this year and featured in the Minnesota Lawyer for their illustrious careers. In their respective profiles, the team discussed topics such as the biggest challenges and misconceptions about their field, interesting cases they’ve worked on lately, managing work/life balance, and interesting facts about themselves.

“One of the biggest misconceptions about our industry is that a lot of people believe that all business litigation lawyers want to take every case to court,” David said. “In reality, many business litigation lawyers want to create opportunities for out-of-court resolutions like negotiation, mediation, or arbitration as ways to achieve favorable, and more efficient, outcomes for their clients.”

Randi emphasized the importance of setting reasonable and healthy boundaries: “Do our jobs require us to work nights and weekends sometimes? Absolutely. Should we have to work every night and every weekend? No. This makes me a better lawyer, better spouse, and better mom.”

At Spencer Fane, David defends his clients in commercial, general liability, premises liability, complex product liability, drug and medical device, automotive, and toxic tort matters, with an impressive track record across all areas of his practice. Randi serves as Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Minneapolis location while helping her clients achieve favorable litigation outcomes with respect to business, employment, and licensing disputes in addition to matters involving health law, labor law, and utility law.
