Spencer Fane partner DeAndrea Washington was honored with the University of Houston (UH) Law Alumni Association Barrier Breaker Award at the UH Law Center’s 48th Annual Law Gala & Auction on April 6. The firm was pleased to serve as a Gold Sponsor for the event.
These awards celebrated UH Law Center alumni who have positively impacted and enhanced the Center and the legal profession through their exemplary achievements and contributions. DeAndrea, a strong ambassador for the Center since graduating from it in 2009, earned her Barrier Breaker distinction for strengthening the Spencer Fane presence at UHLC interviewing; serving as an active, influential member of organizations such as the Houston Bar Association, and Houston Association of Women Attorneys; and maintaining a strong commitment to her clients, colleagues, community, and the entire legal industry.
At the firm, DeAndrea Washington is integral to the Spencer Fane Labor and Employment team. She provides preventive counsel and litigates employment disputes on behalf of employers in federal and state courts, in arbitration, and before various administrative agencies. DeAndrea is also an increasingly visible and respected voice at the firm. In addition to becoming the youngest appointee to the firm’s Executive Committee, she serves on the Compensation and DEI Committees and serves as a leader of talent management throughout the Firm. In these leadership roles, DeAndrea advises on initiatives that impact strategy and culture, helping the firm continue its evolution on all fronts while also blazing impactful trails for attorneys and legal professionals.
