Following last week’s announcement of Spencer Fane’s new charitable giving program, the firm was highlighted in The Kansas City Star for the program’s planned contributions to its inaugural recipient, the Kansas City Art Institute, as well as the Kansas City Repertory Theatre and ArtsKC – Regional Arts Council. As the first official beneficiary of the Spencer Fane Charitable Giving Program, KCAI is scheduled to receive a total of $50,000 over the course of three years. While the firm continues to evaluate future candidates for the full program it will continue its ongoing support of The Rep and ArtsKC as honorary program members until 2016 and 2017, respectively. KCAI plans to use Spencer Fane’s donations to expand scholarships and further support its annual Art and Design Auction, which features the work of current and previous students to raise funds for financial aid. “Spencer Fane has a long history of supporting the arts and innovation community in Kansas City,” said Pat Whalen, the firm’s chairman. “It’s one of our passions, and the firm is deeply committed to growing the city’s cultural life.” After the launch in its Kansas City offices, the firm’s charitable giving program will also debut in the Springfield, Mo., St. Louis, Mo., and Denver offices, each supporting its own unique local causes.
