Spencer Fane Welcomes Mark Boatman to Business Transactions Group

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP is pleased to announce that Mark Boatman has joined the firm in its St. Louis office as Of Counsel in the Business Transactions Practice Group.

“Mark has an excellent reputation throughout the St. Louis community as well as within the finance and real estate communities,” said Frank Neuner, St. Louis managing partner. “He shares our philosophy and commitment to client service, and we are excited to have him join our firm.”

Boatman brings to the firm extensive experience in negotiating, structuring and documenting finance, real estate and securities transactions with a particular focus on tax-advantaged public finance transactions. In addition, he has extensive experience assisting clients in obtaining and/or providing a variety of development incentives.

With more than 20 years of legal experience, Boatman has participated in more than 280 financing transactions funding more than $2.3 billion in public and private projects. He has represented developers, financial institutions, underwriters, developers, and governmental entities and agencies. His work has resulted in the financing or refinancing of public-private projects including sports stadiums, hospitals, educational facilities, student housing, convention centers and other public buildings. He has also participated in transactions involving business parks, shopping malls, hotels, and other commercial projects, as well as water, sewer, transportation, and other public infrastructure projects.

In addition to his law practice, Boatman is an active member of St. Louis’ civic community and a published author with publications including The St. Louis Bar Journal and the Saint Louis University Law Journal. He has also served on or advised numerous nonprofit boards of directors, including service as director and past president of the Optimist Club of St. Louis. Mark is also a member of The Missouri Bar, Illinois State Bar Association, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Boatman has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Public Law and Finance and by Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers.

He earned his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
