Attorney Aims to Promote City’s Economic Development
Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Brett Bogan was recently appointed chairman of the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce, a business organization dedicated to enhancing the community’s business environment and quality of life.
As board chairman, Brett will work with the organization’s leadership and members to help achieve the chamber’s goals for 2018 and position it for future success. Brett, who became active in the chamber more than 20 years ago after completing the Leadership Overland Park program, has served on the board and executive committee since 2011.
“I’m honored and excited to lead such an important and effective organization,” Brett said. “One of our top priorities will continue to be helping businesses attract and retain top talent. Workforce development is an important part of our overall efforts to ensure the city’s continued prosperity and growth.”
Overland Park business leaders started the chamber 50 years ago to create a prosperous economic climate in which all businesses can thrive. As chairman, Brett said he plans to continue to support the dynamic partnerships between the chamber, the city and the private sector that have helped transform Overland Park from a bedroom community to the corporate center it is today.
Michael Tracy, the chamber’s outgoing chairman, said Brett’s insights, experience and dedication make him the ideal person to lead the 800-member organization. “Through his work with the chamber and several other community organizations, Brett has demonstrated his commitment to making Overland Park a place where people want to work and live,” Tracy said. “With Brett’s leadership, the chamber will continue to play an active role in the city’s development for years to come.”
At Spencer Fane, Brett helps leaders in the health care industry with all types of business transactions and facilitated the largest private hospital acquisitions in the greater Kansas City area. He regularly counsels clients with business planning, capital structures, specialized stockholders agreements, joint venture agreements and the protection and licensing of technology. He also has experience with U.S. securities law and advises companies on matters relating to general corporate law, reporting and corporate governance.
In addition to his work with the chamber, Brett is the in-coming Chair of the Overland Park Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees and also serves on multiple boards of professional and community organizations in the Kansas City area.
Brett received his law degree from Washburn University School of Law and a Masters of Laws degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University.
