Spencer Fane Expands Health Care, Real Estate and Municipal Practices

Spencer Fane is pleased to announce the addition of five attorneys to its Municipal, Health Care and Real Estate groups.

Cynthia Beyer is joining the firm’s Municipalities and Local Government Group in its Denver office; Kathryn Lee is joining the firm’s Health Care Group in its Overland Park office; Jaclyn Maloney is joining the Real Estate Group in the firm’s Kansas City office; Kelly Shamel is joining the firm’s Real Estate Group in Denver; and Jalaine Wheeler is joining the Real Estate Group in the firm’s St. Louis office.

Cynthia Beyer – Municipalities and Local Government Group

Beyer will use her 25 years of legal experience to find practical solutions to clients’ challenges as Of Counsel in the Municipalities and Local Government Group. She has significant experience interpreting, drafting and negotiating government contracts, and handling municipal government affairs and transactions. Beyer earned her Juris Doctor and her undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota.K

Kathryn Lee – Health Care Group

Lee is joining the Health Care Group as Of Counsel where she will use her knowledge of disputes and contract claims to achieve favorable outcomes for clients. Her previous experience includes representing companies, insurers and individuals in state and federal courts across the country. She earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Iowa College of Law and her undergraduate degree at Iowa State University.

Jaclyn Maloney – Real Estate Group

As Of Counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Group, Maloney structures real estate development financing and incentives deals for developers. She represents clients throughout the entire lifecycle of real estate development and construction projects, from real property acquisition, public approvals and incentives, through construction closeout. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Columbia and her undergraduate degree from Truman State University.

Kelly Shamel – Real Estate Group

Shamel, who is joining the firm’s Real Estate Group as an Associate, has extensive real estate transaction experience. She earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Missouri–Columbia School of Law, her undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri–Columbia, and served as the Judicial clerk for the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District during 2004-2005.

Jalaine Wheeler – Real Estate Group

As an Of Counsel, Wheeler will provide additional support and resources to the firm’s Real Estate Group. She focuses her practice on representing businesses and individuals in local, state and federal tax controversy matters, tax planning and counseling, tax credit financed real estate development, including Historic Tax Credits, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, and New Markets Tax Credits, business entity organizational matters, general commercial matters, and financial services. She earned her Master of Laws in Taxation at Washington University, her Juris Doctor at the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida, and her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida.
