Members of the Spencer Fane St. Louis office regularly volunteer their time at the Drop-In Center operated by Epworth Children and Family Services to provide volunteer support and meals for clients of the non-profit agency, which primarily serves children and families who have suffered severe abuse or neglect.
The Drop-In Center is part of Epworth’s Street Outreach Services, which supports youth between the ages of 11 and 20 who are experiencing housing instability or unhealthy home lives in an effort to help the youth obtain safe, permanent housing. Youth ages 21 and older can access the Drop-in Center by appointment or when in crisis. The Drop-in Center provides comprehensive services such as laundry and shower facilities, safer sex kits and classes, nutrition, clothing and hygiene items, common areas for “hanging out” (playing games, watching TV), computer workstations, and cooking instruction. The Drop-In center also offers access to community resources such as STI and HIV testing, healthcare, legal aid and documentation assistance, resource referrals and information, group sessions offering skill training, recreational activities, and support for LGBTQ youth and allies. The Drop-in Center has open access during weekday afternoons and some evenings.
Since 2015, Epworth has been a recipient of the Spencer Fane Charitable Giving Program, with the firm pledging to contribute $50,000 over a three-year period.
