Spencer Fane is pleased to announce that seven attorneys in offices stretching from St. Louis to Denver have been elected as partners of the firm effective on Jan. 1, 2016. The attorneys include Jamie Cotter, Roger Denny, Amy Mistler, Casey Murray, David O’Leary, Denise Portnoy and Robert Preston.

Jamie Cotter (Denver) is a litigator focusing on employment issues, real estate, special districts, and municipalities. She has been recognized by Colorado Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star and is rated “AV-Preeminent” from Martindale-Hubbell. Jamie received her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Colorado College.
Roger Denny (St. Louis) provides transactional counsel to a wide variety of Spencer Fane’s institutional and individual clients. Roger was selected for inclusion in the 2014 class of Up & Coming attorneys selected by Missouri Lawyers Weekly. He received an L.L.M. in Taxation from Washington University, his J.D. from Saint Louis University, and a bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University, Summa Cum Laude.
Amy Mistler (St. Louis) is a commercial real estate attorney representing developers, investors, lenders and borrowers in all types of real estate transactions. Amy is active in the local legal and business community and previously served as President of the St. Louis Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women. She received her J.D. from the University of Illinois, Magna Cum Laude. In addition, she earned a master’s degree from Saint Louis University and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois.
Casey Murray (Kansas City) defends employers in discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, and provides guidance and counsel to clients dealing with challenging employment issues, such as terminations or discipline. He is a graduate of the Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy (2013) and has been recognized by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star. Casey received his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law, and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Marquette University.
David O’Leary (Denver) focuses in the areas of special district and local government law, residential and commercial real estate development. Throughout his legal career, David has represented special districts, local governments and taxpayers throughout Colorado to plan and finance successful new developments. David earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University.
Denise Portnoy (Overland Park/ Kansas City) prevents and solves workplace problems for employers. She provides proactive training and counseling on employment issues, handles traditional labor matters, and defends business leaders and companies in arbitrations and lawsuits. She has been recognized by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), the preeminent nationally recognized human resource certifications. Denise earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas Honors Program.
Robert Preston (St. Louis) is a real estate attorney, helping individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses by providing creative, economical and practical solutions to complex problems in connection with the acquisition, development, disposition and leasing of real property. Recognized by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star, Robert earned his J.D. from Washington University School of Law, and received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University (B.S.), Cum Laude.
