Overview

MinJae Kim represents clients in complex litigation, commercial disputes, and regulatory matters, helping them protect their interests, manage risk, and achieve their strategic objectives.

MinJae brings a distinctive perspective to his practice through his extensive law enforcement and investigative experience. As a former full-time law enforcement officer in California and Utah, he conducted complex criminal and civil investigations. This background informs his approach to litigation, particularly matters involving governmental investigations and the defense of government entities and officials. His practice also includes select criminal defense matters. He maintains his Utah POST law enforcement certification as a reserve law enforcement officer in Utah County, keeping him connected to law enforcement practices and culture.

Before joining Spencer Fane, MinJae served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Kevin R. Anderson of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah and as a legal intern in the Civil Division of the Provo City Attorney’s Office. He continues his military service as a paralegal with the Utah Army National Guard’s 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), following prior service in the unit as an unmanned aircraft systems operator (drone pilot). While attending law school, MinJae researched customary international law, focusing on emerging norms concerning the acceptance of ground forces’ surrenders to unmanned aircraft, and presented his research at ASU Law’s GETS Conference.
