Overview

June Santiago combines private practice and in-house experience to deliver client-centric legal services and resolve top corporate health care regulatory and business concerns, allowing providers to keep a focus on providing high-quality patient care and successful operations.

Working to gain an in-depth knowledge of each client’s business, June becomes a trusted partner in formulating business development and growth strategies that take into account legal and risk implications. She has worked with health care businesses ranging from Forbes 250 companies to provider network startups to small physician practices, assisting in navigating constant changes in the industry’s regulatory landscape and care delivery models through innovative strategies, policies, and processes.

June most recently worked as a senior compliance director for an international health care system, specifically with the largest kidney care provider accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). She led the successful execution of several key areas of the day-to-day compliance program with a full team responsible for reviewing and assessing Anti-Kickback Statute and other compliance risks associated with referral source agreements, including medical director agreements, personal services agreements, transactions, and leases. She also served as the day-to-day compliance leader to senior leadership, providing guidance and support on federal and state fraud and abuse laws, Medicare requirements and reimbursement, and other laws that create legal issues in the context of outpatient dialysis centers and related businesses.

In this role, June partnered with internal clients to develop, enhance, and sustain compliance program elements for projects to liaise between business clients, legal, and compliance to minimize fraud and abuse risk for all key stakeholders.

Previously, June formed and led her own law firm, which handled hundreds of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, with a focus on provider joint ventures that helped clients grow their businesses in a compliant fashion. She provided clients with knowledgeable in-house corporate health care legal services on an outside counsel basis. She also handled complex Stark Law and Anti-Kickback compliance audits of health care entities and related arrangements, and augmented clients’ legal capacity and skill set by advising on and overseeing operational legal issues in addition to contracting, HIPAA security, policy and procedure development and implementation, billing matters, and licensing requirements.
