Jim Kapp, a retired partner with Spencer Fane, practices with the firm’s business & finance group concentrating in the areas of securities law, mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions, loan and other financing transactions, tax issues associated with environmental matters, and financing and structuring of environmental funding and cleanup entities.
Jim received his bachelor’s degree in 1966 and his law degree in 1969 from the University of Kansas, where he was a member of Order of the Coif, the Articles Editor of the Kansas Law Review and the recipient of American Jurisprudence Awards for Academic Achievement.
Jim is a member of the Corporation Committee of The Missouri Bar, the Business Section (Securities Regulation and Negotiated Acquisitions Committees) and Tax Section of the American Bar Association and has served as Chairman of the Heart of America Tax Institute. He has also lectured on the topics of reorganizations, acquisitions, and terminations and securities law topics for UMKC Law School, Cambridge Institute and other continuing legal education programs.
