Overview

Hillary Martel combines clinical insight and legal experience which give her an in-depth understanding of the needs of health care clients. She serves as a trusted advisor to health care providers and organizations on a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters and leverages her unique perspective to counsel providers with health care legal issues.

Hillary specializes in helping health care providers navigate complex legal and regulatory requirements to ensure they operate and maintain compliance in a constantly evolving legal environment. She advises clients on matters involving Stark Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA compliance, state licensing issues for individual providers and entities, survey-related matters, the 36-month rule, Medicare and Medicaid provider enrollment, Conditions of Participation, corporate practice of medicine, and certificate of need issues. Hillary routinely assists clients with drafting, negotiating, and reviewing various health care related agreements, including employment agreements, professional services agreements, affiliation agreements, and collaborative practice agreements.  She also supports health care clients through complex transactions, reorganizations, and changes of ownership.

Prior to practicing law, Hillary worked as a registered nurse in an intensive care unit at a large academic medical center, giving her a deep, firsthand understanding of the operational realities and patient care issues at the heart of health care law. This unique background enables her to offer clients practical, provider-informed counsel that aligns with legal risk management and clinical goals.
