Overview

David Slaughter has developed a broad practice for over 40 years, enjoying close business relationships with a variety of long-standing clients.

Much of his early practice focused on representing construction bond sureties in connection with performance and payment bonds on public and private projects, including the pursuit of indemnity from bonded contractors and related litigation and dispute resolution and that experience continues. His client base has expanded over the years to include real estate developers, project owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers as well as technology companies, specialty manufacturers and other individuals and business entities outside of the construction arena, in areas of business formation, mergers and acquisitions, and contract formation and licensing.

David has lectured before local and national professional organizations and has authored several papers dealing with construction, surety law, alternative dispute resolution, and other topics. He has served as a panel arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association on construction and complex commercial disputes since 1990 and is a respected and active mediator in such disputes.

David is among the co-founders of the Western States Surety Conference, which has furnished annual instruction on a variety of topics relevant to surety professionals since 1993.
