Betsey Streuli helps manufacturers, industrial facilities, developers, construction contractors, and related businesses across a wide range of sectors identify, avoid, and solve environmental challenges, specifically in matters involving water, to keep projects in compliance with applicable statutes and regulations and avoid unnecessary interruptions and potentially costly mistakes that could otherwise threaten projects and operations.
With almost two decades of environmental regulatory experience, Betsey possesses a deep understanding of federal water law, including but not limited to the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. She has worked with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), municipalities, corporate entities, individuals, agencies and Native American tribes on a variety of compliance issues involving state and federal environmental statutes and regulations.
Betsey’s extensive time as an environmental regulatory insider allows her to offer clients beneficial first-hand knowledge of permitting and rulemaking process, enforcement procedures and implementation of state and federal environmental regulatory policy and EPA-delegated and primacy programs. She has managed municipal, industrial and stormwater NPDES permitting issues, reporting and compliance, and this extends to public water supplies, wastewater treatment facilities, industrial and municipal impoundments facilities and small public and private wastewater programs, as well as other areas of environmental compliance including air pollution, solid and hazardous wastes, water reuse, aquifer storage and recovery, and produced water.
In addition to previous experience in private practice, Betsey served as Senior Water Quality Attorney in the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality’s Water Quality Division from 2004 to the end of 2021. During that time, she was as the lead attorney on several cases involving highly complex and technical drinking water compliance cases. Her previous stint in private practice contributed to her seasoned litigation experience, which also includes work bankruptcy, family law, civil rights, collections, foreclosures, real estate, transactional law, contract litigation, probate, and personal injury/torts.
