United Way volunteers elected Michael Hockley as chair of UWGKC’s Board of Trustees for 2011-12 during the annual meeting of the United Way of Greater Kansas City held on March 2, 2010. Hockley is a partner at Spencer, Fane Britt & Browne, LLP. He served as a Johnson County representative when area United Ways began to explore the possibility of forming a single organization. He chaired the committee that wrote the by-laws and formalized the merger of four Kansas City area United Ways into what is now the United Way of Greater Kansas City.
Hockley’s election serves as a public affirmation of the contributions that he has made to the organization. The United Way works to advance the common good through strategies focused on improving community outcomes in education, income stability and health.
