Spencer Fane attorney Mike Hockley was re-appointed Chair of the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee at the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce (OP Chamber) at the beginning of 2021. In this leadership role, Mike and the Committee review governmental and legislative issues and make policy recommendations to the OP Chamber’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
Mike and the Committee have adapted to the new virtual environment caused by the pandemic. They have continued to serve their members through the innovative use of technology and virtual meetings.
For example, over the past seven months, Mike has moderated monthly meetings, conducted candidate forums, and has regularly attended the City of Overland Park’s Economic Development Council meetings. He also hosted a series of four legislative updates conducted by the Committee featuring elected state officials.
At Spencer Fane, Mike’s practice concentrates on litigation, environmental law, and renewable energy, with an emphasis on environmental litigation, environmental regulatory permitting, and environmental enforcement proceedings. Mike has experience in leadership roles for both the firm and in a variety of civic and professional organizations. He currently serves as the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for Kansas (East).
