Spencer Fane attorney Julie Roth was recently interviewed by The Wall Street Journal in an article detailing Amazon’s acquisition of the online pharmacy PillPack, and the health data privacy implications of the transaction.
Titled “Amazon’s PillPack Deal Gives It Access to Sensitive Health Data,” the article outlines the concerns consumers have about Amazon gaining access to health data, including overly specific behavioral tracking and lack of clarity in privacy notices. In the article, Julie explains, “Prescription drug information is highly personal information—it can tell if someone has cancer, if they have a sexually transmitted disease.”
