Josh Dickinson Discusses Collections Overshadowing Best Practices at Compliance Professionals Forum

Spencer Fane Partner Josh Dickinson, along with David Weimer of Frank & Frank, recently provided insights to a group of more than 400 debt collection professionals on industry legal best practices.

In his presentation titled “How to Avoid Collection Activities That Overshadow or Are Inconsistent with the Consumer’s Right to Dispute the Debt,” Josh updated attendees on the courts’ positions on overshadowing, defined activities that can risk overshadowing, and outlined best practices to avoid those activities.

Josh Dickinson defends credit agencies, creditors, and law firms from individual and class action claims brought under the FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA, various state consumer protection statutes, and common law fraud.

The Compliance Professionals Forum (CPF) is an initiative of insideARM and the iA Institute, a digital media company that specializes in providing context, insight, and practical information to the debt industry.
