Charissa Sloan Dvorak has recently been appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the state’s Council on Sex Offender Treatment. Since 1983, the council members, recognized by the State of Texas as experienced professionals in the treatment and management of sex offenders, have set forth the standards for treatment to enhance public safety and oversee the licensing of sex offender treatment providers.
Charissa is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Higher Education practice groups at Spencer Fane, with a focus on institutional responses to sexual misconduct. She is a former prosecutor who litigated hundreds of cases including child sexual abuse, sexual assault, physical abuse and domestic violence.
In addition to her law practice, Charissa is a board member of GRACE, a national nonprofit organization that trains faith-based organizations to recognize, prevent and respond to abuse. She earned her law degree from Baylor University School of Law and an MBA from Houston Baptist University.
