Spencer Fane Partner Andrew Brought was recently featured as a guest columnist in SIOR Professional Report, a quarterly publication of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. In the article, titled “Environmental Site Assessments – What You Need to Know to Close Your Deal,” he provides 10 important facts about Phase I ESAs explaining why each piece of information is significant and how it can impact the buyer, seller or both parties in a real estate transaction. Brought has worked in environmental law for more than a decade and he has extensive experience with contaminated site redevelopment and the cleanup and reuse of legacy/Brownfield sites. He works with property owners, developers, and financial institutions in achieving their transactional goals, through voluntary cleanup programs, the use of institutional controls and related risk-based cleanups, or by managing risk through other mechanisms such as contractual obligations and insurance. Andrew also helps businesses obtain and comply with operating permits and the environmental and OSHA regulations in a variety of industries and sectors, and he also helps his clients manage and reduce environmental liability through his significant experience in civil and criminal enforcement matters.
