Colin W. Turner
Overview
Colin Turner applies his extensive knowledge and experience in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters to help clients protect their most valuable intellectual property (IP), avoid the IP rights of others, and defend against claims of infringement and misappropriation. He has extensive experience representing clients in patent, trademark, trade dress, trade secret, and copyright litigation in federal courts throughout the U.S. and before the administrative tribunals within the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Colin’s patent practice covers a variety of different mechanical and chemical inventions with a specific focus on consumer products and industrial processes and equipment. His trademark practice includes managing international trademark portfolios and counseling clients on the adoption, use, and registration of valuable trademark assets.
Having begun his career as a full-time civil litigation defense attorney for hundreds of cases involving professional malpractice, insurance coverage, products liability, premises liability, personal injury, and workers’ compensation, Colin is well-versed in managing every aspect of his cases and is highly adaptable to new subject matter. That comprehensive background combined with his natural legal acumen in patent and trademark prosecution and counseling sets him apart as a trusted, highly sought-after IP practitioner and litigator.

- Leads trademark enforcement efforts on behalf of famous manufacturers of keepsakes, collectibles, and art supplies.
- Served as the first chair prosecutor on behalf of The Kroger Co. in IPR proceeding and defense counsel in related litigation in the Eastern District of Texas. Obtained a ruling from the PTAB that there was a reasonable likelihood that all challenged claims would be shown invalid. The parties reached a settlement shortly thereafter. - Obtained a favorable settlement for a well-known chemical company in a patent dispute.
- Defended a music publisher in a lawsuit against claims of trademark and copyright infringement and obtained a settlement, part of which included the entry of judgment in favor of his client as to its related counterclaims.
- Defended a national online retailer in a lawsuit against claims of copyright and trademark infringement and obtained a settlement.
