Katelyn J. Heley
Overview
Katelyn Heley helps advise businesses and other stakeholders in complex insolvency and restructuring matters with thoughtful, detail-oriented counsel. She focuses on issues arising under the Bankruptcy Code, including bankruptcy litigation, creditor remedies, distressed asset recovery, workouts, and reorganization proceedings.
With a strong foundation in bankruptcy law and judicial decision-making, Katelyn diligently ensures clear legal analyses and compliance with applicable laws at all turns. Her specific experience as a law clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Dakota includes assisting the judge at both the bankruptcy district and appellate levels, conducting in-depth legal research, drafting memoranda and other legal documents related to complex financial and insolvency matters, and helping manage the entire docket for the state of South Dakota.
Prior to earning her bachelor’s degree, Katelyn completed an internship for the Honorable North Dakota Senator John Hoeven at the U.S. Capitol, where she gained extensive insight into federal government procedures. She completed several other public and private sector internships throughout her time in law school, acquiring a diverse skill set that prioritizes both accuracy and efficiency.
