Overview

Rachel Carr Shreves is an associate whose practice focuses on complex financial matters, including receiverships, bankruptcy, regulatory compliance, and commercial lending. With a strong foundation in commercial law, Rachel supports clients navigating distressed assets and compliance challenges across industries.

Rachel approaches each matter with a practical, business-oriented mindset. Prior to entering private practice, she served as a legal extern to the Honorable Beth Phillips of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, as well as to the Honorable Cynthia Norton, Honorable Brian Fenimore, and Honorable Dennis Dow (Ret.) of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri. In these roles, she conducted extensive legal research and drafted judicial opinions and orders. Her externships provided valuable insight into federal criminal proceedings, as well as civil and bankruptcy motion practice and courtroom procedures.

While in law school, Rachel served as a research editor on the UMKC Law Review Editorial Board and worked as a research assistant for several professors. She also completed one summer as a Spencer Fane summer associate and one summer at a boutique civil litigation firm. Through each of these roles, she sharpened her legal research, writing, and editing skills, which directly contribute to the detail-oriented and analytical approach she brings to her practice today.
