Spencer Fane Welcomes Greenfield to IP Practice Group in Texas

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Steven Greenfield has joined the Intellectual Property Practice Group as an of counsel attorney in the firm’s Plano office.

Greenfield brings a strong background in engineering design to his private practice, which focuses on helping inventors, engineers, scientists, startup companies and corporate management to establish strategically valuable IP portfolios. He has extensive experience with all types and sizes of IP portfolios and provides valuable insight and legal strategies critical to retaining and increasing the value of his clients’ technologies, product lines, brands and marketing investments.

This often includes the ability to review portfolios and potentially identify unexpected revenue streams through licensing or litigation, while emphasizing a balance of protection and the creation of barriers to competitor entry or expansion in a given market.

“In an increasingly competitive marketplace, clients routinely turn to our firm for guidance and legal counsel in maintaining and protecting IP,” said Paul Sander, Office Managing Partner for Spencer Fane in Plano. “Steve brings impeccable credentials to his IP work, and we look forward to utilizing his skill set in our responsive, collaborative work for our clients in this area.”

Prior to entering private practice, Greenfield spent time as an electronic systems design engineer and designed high-speed analog, digital and microprocessor-based reconnaissance circuitry for U.S. Air Force and Navy jets. Two of these designs were incorporated into and flew in U.S. fighter aircraft during Operation Desert Storm.

Greenfield completed his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and later earned a Juris Doctor from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.
