Spencer Fane attorney Shawn Whitney was recently interviewed by the Springfield Business Journal in an article discussing opportunity zones.
Titled “With new rules, opportunity zones gain traction,” the article outlines recent clarifications made by the U. S. Department of the Treasury to the opportunity zone program, which incentivizes development and job creation in distressed communities. Shawn explained the advantages for both business and the public. “The public policy benefit of this is private money going into distressed areas, not tax dollars,” Shawn said. “We should encourage it as much as possible.”
