In a ceremony on December 14, Spencer Fane Partner Nate Orr was formally inducted as President of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA), following that organization’s Annual Meeting.
KCMBA is the largest and oldest bar association in the Kansas City area. Founded in 1884, KCMBA utilizes its rich tradition as a platform to provide current, innovative and relevant service to its 5,000 members in its nine-county service territory in Missouri and Kansas.
As President, Nate will work to further the mission of KCMBA to serve its members and the Kansas City community by promoting justice, professional excellence and respect for the law.
“My focus this coming year is to leverage my relationships in the City to help expand KCMBA’s visibility and ability to provide service to the business, philanthropic, and broader community. Lawyers play a unique and critical role in helping our community navigate important issues and promote social justice for all citizens. We want to tell that story, so our work can have even more impact on those who need it most.”
“KCMBA is lucky to have Nate Orr as its 2019 President,” said Vickie Mauck, KCMBA’s Executive Director. “Nate brings the highest caliber of leadership expertise to this role that is so very important to our legal community, as well as to the greater Kansas City community. His expertise as a lawyer and deep charitable and civic commitments will serve the organization and its members very well. 2019 is going to be a great year.”
At Spencer Fane, Nate serves as outside general counsel for his clients, managing their legal matters across all the firm’s practice areas and ensuring that clients get the best and most responsive representation possible for their unique matters. In doing so, he takes the lead role in coordinating clients’ projects in litigation and government affairs. He uses his community involvement to make critical connections for his clients. He also serves as Chairman of the firm’s Charitable Contributions Committee.
Nate has received numerous industry accolades, including Super Lawyers top-rated business litigation attorney, Kansas City Business Journal’s Best of the Bar, Ingram’s Magazine’s 40 Under Forty Award, Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s Up & Coming Attorneys Award, and KCMBA’s Young Lawyer of the Year Award. He is the past Chairman of Kansas City’s Downtown Council and the Salvation Army Advisory Board for Western Missouri/Kansas.
Nate graduated cum laude from St. Louis University School of Law, where he served as a faculty fellow and a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society. He received his bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Kansas.
