Payroll Administrator – Kansas City, MO

POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll Administrator position is a full-time position in our Kansas City, MO office.  This position is responsible for coordinating the semi-monthly payroll process for multiple offices in multiple states.. This position requires a confident and professional individual with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, superior communication skills, and an ability to interact with every level of employee. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills using ADP software, especially with report-writing. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate full-cycle payroll process and all related functions for all offices, coordinating with Accounting and HR groups to ensure accuracy
  • Create and maintain payroll guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Manage payroll and HRIS vendor relationship and configure the system to meet needs
  • Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions
  • Ensure data and funds for pay deductions are relayed to third-party vendors and entities as required
  • Reconcile benefit withholdings to vendor payments
  • Manage the administration of attorney pay agreements and assist with staff variable pay administration
  • Maintain current knowledge and ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal tax as well as wage and hour laws and requirements
  • File Quarterly Local employer taxes for St Louis and Las Vegas
  • Coordinate with ADP SmartCompliance on Agency Notices to resolve any discrepancies or outstanding items.
  • Review Quarterly SOD reports for accuracy
  • Complete year-end process to ensure W-2s are accurate and issued on time
  • Maintain State unemployment online account access
  • Review and approve ADP invoices for processing
  • Facilitate management and employee understanding of payroll procedures and issues; point of contact for questions and requests from outside parties
  • Create and maintain system reports for analysis and planning
  • Process Employment Verifications

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • 5 -7 years of experience in payroll in a multi-state environment required; ADP system experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field a plus
  • Member of APA; CPP preferred
  • Experience operating and writing reports in ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and strong analytical and problem solving skills required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required, including Word, Outlook, and especially Excel

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve the need for inter-office mobility for brief periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 – 20 lbs
  • Ability to efficiently communicate
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions required
  • Ability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print
