Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Tadd Wilson has joined the Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in the firm’s Denver office.
Wilson’s practice focuses on helping companies develop business-focused legal strategies that promote growth, market share, and profitability. With a particular focus on disruptive technologies, he counsels various-sized businesses from start-ups to more mature, market-leading companies in many varied technical fields.
With proven ability in building, maintaining, and enforcing intellectual property portfolios, Wilson regularly provides clients with counsel on strategic patent, trademark, and trade secret protection, licensing, and litigation. He has personally prepared and filed thousands of patent applications and responses to Office Actions with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in many non-U.S. jurisdictions. Further, Wilson has conducted numerous Inter Partes Reviews, and has been involved in litigations.

Wilson’s practice includes specific technology experience with Wi-Fi and 5G communications, medical devices, satellites, launch vehicles, semiconductors, software applications, operating systems, mobile devices, electric and self-driving vehicles, supply chain management, computer security, manufacturing systems, financial technologies, mechanical inventions, and business methods.
After finishing his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Clarkson University, Wilson earned an MBA at Colorado State University with concentrations in technology management and quality improvement. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver’s Strum College of Law, while serving as an officer and satellite engineer with the U.S. Air Force, and later, as a program manager with a Colorado-based aerospace company.
