February 4, 2020

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Jason Davis has joined the firm as a partner in the Real Estate practice group.

A licensed civil engineer, Davis’ industry experience provides him with practical insight into common problems associated with real estate and construction projects. He focuses his practice on assisting a full range of clients in real estate transactions, including construction, pipeline, and oil and gas matters, and also assists landowners and contractors with their contract and construction issues, including disputes that often involve arbitration.

“As our office in Houston continues to grow, we have embraced unique approaches to best serving our clients’ needs in the market,” said Pat Whalen, managing partner for Spencer Fane. “Jason’s diverse engineering and legal experience aligns well with our commitment to not only understanding the issues our real estate clients face but also how to best address and solve their problems.”

With a strong focus on the many moving parts related to real estate deals and construction projects, Davis uses his engineering experience and knowledge of the city of Houston’s departments and procedures to expedite plat approvals, joint referral accommodations, variance approvals, and wastewater capacity reservation letters for clients. He has worked on site selection, assessment studies, civil site redevelopment, and improvements design. This includes storm water detention and drainage design and floodplain compensatory storage design.

Davis has also worked with private and public utility infrastructure design, and strategic project management involving easement abandonment and acquisitions, in addition to securing all manner of municipal and county permits and approvals. In that capacity, Jason was credentialed as a Professional Engineer by the State of Texas.

After entering private practice, Davis achieved the unique distinction in 2009 of being the youngest triple board-certified attorney in Texas for commercial real estate law, farm and ranch real estate law, and residential real estate law. He completed his undergraduate engineering studies at the University of Houston and earned his Juris Doctor from the South Texas College of Law.
