February 11, 2020

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce that Sean McKenna has joined the firm as a partner in its Dallas office. He will be a part of the Health Care and Litigation practice groups.

McKenna brings a strong combination of private practice and government experience that will benefit clients. His work focuses on health care litigation, compliance and regulatory work, and white collar criminal defense matters.

“Sean’s exceptional and unique skillset will benefit not only clients locally, but also throughout the firm’s footprint,” said Jason Cross, Office Managing Partner in Dallas. “His diverse legal background further enhances our ability to provide clients with responsive and comprehensive legal services for their most important matters. We are very excited to have Sean join our growing team and look forward to Sean contributing to our work in Texas and beyond.”

Prior to joining Spencer Fane, McKenna ran a small law firm with the same primary focuses. His health care work includes representing executives and companies in civil, administrative, and criminal fraud matters, with significant experience defending False Claims Act and federal fraud matters, conducting internal investigations, providing fraud and abuse analysis, advising on regulatory and licensure issues, compliance reviews and assessments, and handling government and payor audits.

The majority of McKenna’s professional experience has been with the federal government, investigating and resolving civil, criminal, and administrative health care and white collar fraud investigations, matters, and cases. He has previously worked as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas (2003-2013), Associate Counsel for the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General (2000-2003), and Associate Regional Counsel in the Office of General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (1999-2000).

McKenna completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara and earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Houston Law Center.
