February 25, 2022

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Diane Minear has joined the Health Care Practice Group as an of counsel attorney in the firm’s Overland Park office.

Leaning on 15 years of broad government experience, Minear brings a unique perspective to her private practice, including general health care matters, compliance, contracts, and administrative and insurance law. With a deep understanding of federal and state laws impacting healthcare providers, Minear helps her clients remain compliant, even amid ever-changing legislation and government guidance.

Minear spent more than five years as general counsel at the Kansas Insurance Department, where she counseled on legal matters involving insurance, regulations and associated regulatory actions, legislation, district court cases, and changes in federal state laws. She also promoted compliance actions by advising management on pending issues to comport with government regulations.

“Diane understands the significant connection between developing and implementing systems designed to reduce risk and mitigate compliance issues and successful health care operations,” said Blane Markley, Office Managing Partner in Overland Park and Health Care Practice Group Chair at Spencer Fane. “The ability to create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers in the area of regulatory compliance remains critical to our commitment to provide exceptional client service. We will continue to add resources and grow our bench in a manner that aligns with client needs, and Diane’s approach to legal work matches well with our culture and values.”

Minear completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas and later earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. Before joining the Kansas Insurance Department, she served stints as secretary of the Kansas Senate, assistant attorney general with the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, and deputy assistant secretary of state legal counsel for the Kansas Secretary of State.
