Spencer Fane attorney John Watson recently discussed issues regarding regulatory requirements and sampling procedures for methane monitoring at oil and gas sites at the Colorado Oil and Gas Association (COGA) Member Spotlight Luncheon.
John’s presentation “Dissolved Methane Monitoring – The Marcellus Shale Coalition Study: Regulations Without a Robust Analytical Method,” examined the regulatory framework for baseline sampling of dissolved methane and light gases. The presentation was followed by a more detailed discussion of the Marcellus Shale Coalition’s (MSC) three-phase inter-laboratory study addressing the lab protocols for sample analysis.
